COVID: I am seeing clients in person. My office is set up for 2m distancing and I have an air filter that I use whenever clients are in my office. You must wear a mask in the building but once you are in my office you can take it off. If you or someone in your household is sick, do not come in for an appointment.

Making the decision to go to therapy can be hard.

I don't judge.  I listen to people's stories very carefully.  I ask a lot of questions and try hard to understand what is going on; the good things and the bad things.  It can be painful to talk about the past, or our fears and difficulties, the fights or problems in a relationship or family but my experience is that usually people feel improvement pretty quickly when they talk in a safe setting.  I don't believe in lifelong therapy;  my goal is to see clients finish therapy as soon as they can. People are often scared about the cost of therapy. They want help and they want to be able to afford it. My sliding scale makes counselling more reasonably priced.  I have helped a lot of people to feel better who were stuck or hurt.

I love working with individuals, families and couples to make the changes they want to make.  My interests include: couples struggling with ending aggression or violence, couples seeking to renew a sense of excitement and intimacy in their relationship; individuals who have a hard time accepting and managing their emotions; setting limits while maintaining connection with challenging kids and teens.

I have a Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University.  I am a Quebec licensed Social Worker - Psychotherapist and Marriage and Family Therapist.  I spent many years working as a school counselor in Montreal, in inpatient psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital and in addictions medicine.

My work with couples is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the work of Dr. John Gottman. My general approach in individual therapy is based on Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as well as mindfulness-based therapeutic techniques, though I have a good working knowledge of most mainstream individual therapeutic methods.

I have a blog that can give you some sense of my interests or feel free to give me a call at 514 799-6965
